The first Telupid Koroburi 2010

The first Telupid Koroburi was held in SK Kopuron on the 1st until the 4th of October 2010. A group of 20 scout members and 6 accompanying teachers joined the camp. The camp was officiated by the honourable Datuk Awang Zainie Bin Haji Suntim, the Sabah Scout Movement Chief commissioner. The activities during the camp were interesting and fun. The activities includes Bola Dangdut and Netball tournaments, Dart Tag, Kim Games, obstacle course and blind course. Two members from SRK Pekan Tongod were awarded with the golden participant batch award for finishing among the top 20 during the Koroburi Activities. Other accomplishments of our scout group were winning the most beautiful gate and the neatest camp site competition and finishing second in the best performance competition with our colourful rendition of the Sajojo Dance. In all, the scout members and the leaders gained valuable and rewarding experience at the end of the camp.


















Membership camp

The first membership camp for SRK Pekan Tongod was conducted on the 21st until the 23rd September 2010. During the camp, the scout members involved themselves in activities such as singing along to scout songs, kim games, introductory briefing to scouting, learning scouting skills such as tying knots, memorising the scout federation promise and listening and watching forest stories such as The Jungle Book. At the end of the camp, the participants embarked in a swimming challenge where the members who succeeded were awarded with a swimming skill batch. The member who succeeded in the membership activities were also awarded with a membership batch.

Manikayu Course: Part 1

To increase the knowledge of scouting , the teacher leaders of SRK Pekan Tongod had participated in the Manikayu Course in SK Telupid ICT laboratory. This one day course provides an insight about the scout movement for the teacher leaders. This course was delivered by the District commissioner, Mr Daniel Tan Eng Keng. This course has been a rewarding experience and had fuel the enthusiasm for scouting among the teacher leaders.



Weekly activites

After months of waiting, the SRK Pekan Tongod scout movement is finally a certified movement registered under the state scout coalition. Without further due, the weekly activities kicked off with member's registration and a brief overview on the scout movement by Skip Aron. Other weekly activities planned for the group include Kim Games, membership courses and social services.




Our Movement

Our movement was reinitiated on January 2010 as part of SRK Pekan Tongod Co-curricular activity. The movement is lead by Mr Aron Abel Marcus, who is one of Telupid District assistant commissioners. Under his belt, the movement is registered as group 12 under Telupid District scout movement. Until October 2010, there are 40 students who are registered as member and 12 consulting teachers. The movement is active in participating in social services in and outside of the school. We also had participated in camps, scout training and activities through out the Telupid District and also in the state level.
